Work starts on new North Wales police HQ

Last week P.P. O’Connor began works on the new £21.5 million police station in Llay, near Wrexham.

Working on behalf of main contractor Galliford Try, P.P. O’Connor is carrying out the initial site enabling works, groundwork, concrete and drainage packages. and work is on track to complete in spring next year.

P.P. O’Connor will demolish the existing factory on the site, including crushing and screening materials for re-use within the works. Works will then start on the groundworks element of the project including, bulk excavation and re-engineering existing materials to form car parks, deep drainage and construction of large attenuation ponds, tanks and flow control structures. P.P. O’Connor will also construct all foundations, pile caps, ground beams, gas membrane works and large internal and external concrete slab areas.
