Asbestos removal

Overview

Asbestos removal and disposal is a high-risk business and must be managed carefully by specialists to minimise the risks to the environment and people. We work closely with the HSE to ensure the works we undertake are done so in line with current HSE legislations and guidance notes, ACoPs and the recommendations of ARCA and UKATA.

From commissioning full asbestos surveys, removal of licenced and non-licenced asbestos, designing and developing safe methods of removal, PP O’Connor provides an effective and efficient asbestos removal service bespoke to our client’s needs.

Some of our projects which have been successfully delivered include:

  • Hopetown House and Whessoe Building, Darlington
  • Manchester Metrolink – Sale Water Park

Licensed removal:

Due to the health and safety risks inherent with asbestos removal, by law, the removal of licenced asbestos containing materials (ACMs) must be undertaken by licenced asbestos removal specialists. To ensure the safe removal of ACMs, PP O’Connor has built long-term relationships with specialist partners who are members of ARCA and hold current HSE licences.

Working with our specialist partners we have designed and implemented bespoke airtight ‘enclosures’ to contain and minimise hazards associated with licenced asbestos removal.

Non-licensed removal:

More than 90% of all asbestos containing materials (ACMs) fall into the category for non-licenced removal. PP O’Connor has the in-house capability to perform these works. Our specialist demolition and deconstruction teams have undertaken ‘Asbestos Awareness Training’ which qualifies them to legally and safely carryout non-licenced asbestos removal.

We put in place proven control measures to reduce or even eliminate airborne asbestos fibres resulting in efficient and safe methods of work, delivered by certificated competent personnel.
